Claude Hofer is a photographer. He worked for many years as a portfolio manager and investment specialist at various Swiss banks. He is a qualified financial analyst and asset manager and has a diploma in financial risk management. From 2018 – 2020 he attended the photography courses at the Swiss School of Journalism (MAZ) in Lucerne. He completed the course with a diploma in February 2020.
In recent years, Claude Hofer has devoted himself almost exclusively to butoh and contemporary dance. He has traveled to many countries around the globe and met over one hundred artists from both dance genres, most of whom performed especially for his camera.
He followed in the footsteps of photographer and filmmaker Eikoh Hosoe, whose work stirred him up and inspired him, among others, to follow the path he had chosen.
The focus of his intense black and white photographs is unmistakably on the people themselves. Thanks to the symbiosis with the artists, a great body of work has been created.
The book Emotional Waves, published by Kehrer Verlag, shows some of the resulting works.
